Burying the Bad Habits

This was a Family Home Evening we did a little bit ago with our neighbors. I got the basic idea from another blogger momma. Read Her Funninesses here:

We read a story about Bad Habits, then we had a funeral service for a bad habit that we wanted to be rid of. We then dug a pit in the ground and buried them. It was dark, so we lit candles for atmosphere. The comments on the evening varied from, "that was so fun", "amazing!", to "yeh, you're kinda creepy, mom". Success!

Here was the Eugoogooly (sorry again, it's a Zoolander thing):
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here together to remember and bury our Bad Habits. Bad Habits' had their beginnings in various places around Utah and in Alaska. They died peacefully at the Scott household in October in the year, 2008. We do not, however, need to fear for the soul of Bad Habits, but let us rejoice their future, for death is not an end for Bad Habits, but a beginning of an eternity of black nothingness.

Bad Habits' were very educated. They made it all the way from preschool in nose picking to a BS in Chronic Unfavorable Putridness. They were awarded the honorary award of Inveterate Obnoxious citizen of the year every year, beginning in 1972, and ending in 2008, respectively.

What shall we miss about Bad Habits? We will miss their comfortable companionship in times of boredom, or better yet, times when we thought no one was paying attention. There are many ways Bad Habits' manifested themselves. When laziness was on our routine, Bad Habits' would break out her best fattening recipes and glutton our appetite to it's fullness of joy, then immediate shame. When we were in the company of friends; Bad Habits' would always show up to the party as well in the effort to liven up the atmosphere. So as we part, let us endeavor to never forget the flatulent hilarity that ensued each time Bad Habits' graced us with their presence. Surely the Angels themselves are pulling upon his finger at this very moment. Their Spirit will be with us always. And by Spirit, we mean sour laundry, crusty washed dishes, credit card debt, clothes on the bedpost, and lipstick on the milk jug.

Bad Habit is survived by their family members, Natalie Nose Picker, Petrina Procrastinator, and Sally Sailor Cusser.

Here's some pics of the book we read, the headstone, and the "mourners"

What a great idea, I will have to remember this one for when my boys are older, it might come in handy!
